Sayyiduna Adi bin Hatim (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I said: "O Messenger of Allah, I shoot at game, then I search for it and only find it after a night has passed?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If you see your arrow in it and no beast of prey has eaten from it, then eat."
Shu'bah said: I narrated this hadith to Abu Bishr, and he said: Sa'id bin Jubayr actually narrates it this way, from Adi bin Hatim (may Allah be pleased with him), from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), that he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If you recognise your arrow in it and see no other mark on it, and you know that it killed it, then eat."
