Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 14267 — The Prophet ﷺ mentioned the Fire, turned
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدَانُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ اللَّيْثِ الْهوادِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَرْعَرَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ، عَنْ خَيْثَمَةَ، عَنْ عَدِيِّ بْنِ حَاتِمٍ، رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: ذَكَرَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ النَّارَ فَأَشَاحَ بِوَجْهِهِ فَتَعَوَّذَ مِنْهَا ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ، ثُمَّ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «اتَّقُوا النَّارَ وَلَوْ بِشِقِّ تَمْرَةٍ، فَإِنْ لَمْ تَجِدُوا فَبِكَلِمَةٍ طَيِّبَةٍ»
Sayyiduna Adi bin Hatim (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned the Fire, turned his face away and sought refuge from it three times. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Protect yourselves from the Fire, even if only with a piece of a date, and if you cannot find that, then with a good word."
