حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الصَّائِغُ الْمَكِّيُّ، وَأَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو الْخَلَّالُ الْمَكِّيُّ، وَالْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ التُّسْتَرِيُّ، وَعَبْدَانُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ، قَالُوا: ثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي عُمَرَ الْعَدَنِيُّ، ثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، ثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ أَبِي خَالِدٍ، عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ أَبِي حَاتِمٍ، عَنْ عَدِيِّ بْنِ حَاتِمٍ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «تَمَثَّلَتْ لِيَ الْحِيرَةُ كَأَنْيَابِ الْكِلَابِ وإنَّكُمْ سَتَفْتَحُونَها» فَقَامَ رَجُلٌ فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، هَبْ لِي بِنْتَ بُقَيْلَةَ فَقَالَ: «هِيَ لَكَ فَأَعْطُوهُ إِيَّاهَا» ، فَجَاءَ أَخُوهَا فَقَالَ: «تَبِيعُهَا؟» قَالَ: نَعَمْ، قَالَ: «فَاحْتَكِمْ مَا شِئْتَ» قَالَ: بِأَلْفِ دِرْهَمٍ قَالَ: «قَدْ أَخَذْتُهَا بِأَلْفٍ» قَالُوا: لَوْ قُلْتَ: ثَلَاثِينَ أَلْفًا قَالَ: «وَهَلْ عَدَدٌ أَكْبَرُ مِنْ أَلْفٍ»
Sayyiduna Adi bin Hatim (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Al-Hirah was shown to me like the fangs of dogs (pointed rocks), and you will surely conquer it." At this a man stood up and said: O Messenger of Allah! Grant me Bint Buqaylah. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "She is yours; give her to him." Then her brother came and said: Will you sell her? He said: Yes. He said: Then name whatever price you wish. He said: One thousand dirhams. He (the brother) said: I have taken her for one thousand. The people said: If only you had said thirty thousand! He said: Is there any number greater than one thousand?
