عمير مولى آبي اللحم الغفاري واسم آبي اللحم عبد الله بن عبد بن مالك بن عبد الله بن عفان وكان آبي اللحم شاعرا وشهد عمير فتح خيبر وإنما سمي آبي اللحم لأنه كان يمتنع من أكل اللحم.
Umayr (may Allah be pleased with him), freed slave of Abi al-Lahm al-Ghifari; the name of Abi al-Lahm was Abdullah bin Abd bin Malik bin Abdullah bin Affan; he was a poet; Umayr was present at the conquest of Khaybar; he was called Abi al-Lahm because he refrained from eating meat

حَدَّثَنَا الْمِقْدَامُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ، ثَنَا أَسَدُ بْنُ مُوسَى، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ صَالِحٍ، ثَنَا أَبِي قَالَا:، ثَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ، ثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ زَيْدِ بْنِ الْمُهَاجِرِ بْنِ قُنْفُذٍ، عَنْ عُمَيْرٍ، مَوْلَى آبِي اللَّحْمِ قَالَ: «كُنْتُ أَرْعَى بِذَاتِ الْجَيْشِ فَأَصَابَتْنِي خَصَاصَةٌ فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لِبَعْضِ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَدَلَّنِي عَلَى حَائِطٍ لِبَعْضِ الْأَنْصَارِ، فاقْتَطَعْتُ مِنْهُ أُقْنًا، فَأَخَذُونِي فَذَهَبُوا بِي إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَأَخْبَرْتُهُ بِحَاجَتِي، فَأعْطَانِي قِنْوًا وَاحِدًا وَرَدَّ سَائِرَهُ إِلَى أَهْلِهِ»
Sayyiduna Umayr, the freed slave of Abi al-Lahm (may Allah be pleased with him), said: I was grazing (goats) at Dhat al-Jaysh when I was struck by severe hunger. I mentioned this to one of the Companions, and he directed me to an orchard belonging to one of the Ansar. I cut some clusters of dates from it. People caught me and took me to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). I told him (peace and blessings be upon him) of my need, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) gave me one cluster and returned the rest to its owner.
