حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُسْلِمٍ الْكَشِّيُّ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ الرَّمَادِيُّ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ عَلْقَمَةَ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ حَاطِبٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ قَالَ: لَمَّا نَزَلَتْ {ثُمَّ لَتُسْأَلُنَّ يَوْمَئِذٍ عَنِ النَّعِيمِ} [التكاثر: ٨] قَالَ الزُّبَيْرُ بْنُ الْعَوَّامِ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَيُّ نُعَيْمٍ نُسْأَلُ عَنْهُ؟، وَإِنَّمَا هُمَا الْأَسْوَدَانِ الْمَاءُ وَالتَّمْرُ، قَالَ: «أَمَا إِنَّ ذَلِكَ سَيَكُونُ»
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin al-Zubayr (may Allah be pleased with them both) said that when this verse was revealed: "Then on that Day you will surely be asked about the blessings" [Surah al-Takathur: 8], al-Zubayr bin al-Awwam (may Allah be pleased with him) said: O Messenger of Allah, about which blessing will we be asked, when all we have is the two black things, water and dates? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Listen, that (abundance of blessings) will soon come to be."
