حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ التُّسْتَرِيُّ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بِشْرٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ حَاطِبٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ، قَالَ: لَمَّا نَزَلَتْ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ {إِنَّكَ مَيِّتٌ وَإِنَّهُمْ مَيِّتُونَ ثُمَّ إِنَّكُمْ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ عِنْدَ رَبِّكُمْ تَخْتَصِمُونَ} [الزمر: ٣١] ، قَالَ الزُّبَيْرُ: أَيُكَرَّرُ عَلَيْنَا مَا كَانَ بَيْنَنَا فِي الدُّنْيَا؟، قَالَ: «نَعَمْ، لَيُكَرَّرُ عَلَيْكُمْ ذَلِكَ حَتَّى يِرَدَّ إِلَى كُلِّ ذِي حَقٍّ حَقَّهُ» ، قَالَ الزُّبَيْرُ: وَاللهِ إِنَّ الْأمْرَ لَشَدِيدٌ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin al-Zubayr (may Allah be pleased with him) that when this verse was revealed to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him): "Indeed, you will die and indeed they will die; then on the Day of Resurrection you will dispute before your Lord" [Surah al-Zumar: 31], Sayyiduna al-Zubayr (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Will (the disputes) that were between us in the world be repeated before us? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes, it will certainly be repeated, until every rightful owner is given back his right." Sayyiduna al-Zubayr (may Allah be pleased with him) said: By Allah, this is indeed a severe matter.
