حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو يَزِيدَ يُوسُفُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ الْقَرَاطِيسِيُّ الْمِصْرِيُّ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الْأَزْرَقُ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ، عَنْ مُصْعَبِ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ أَنَّهُ كَانَتْ بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَ عَمْرِو بْنِ الْعَاصِ خُصُومَةٌ، فَدَخَلَ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ الزُّبَيْرِ عَلَى سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْعَاصِ وَعَمْرٌو مَعَهُ عَلَى السَّرِيرِ، فَقَالَ سَعِيدٌ لِعَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ: هَهُنَا، فَقَالَ: «لَا، قَضَى رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّ الْخَصْمَيْنِ يَقْعُدَانِ أَمَامَ الْحَاكِمِ»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin al-Zubayr (may Allah be pleased with them both) that there was a dispute between him and Sayyiduna Amr bin al-As (may Allah be pleased with him). Abdullah bin al-Zubayr (may Allah be pleased with them both) went in to Sa'id bin al-As while Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) was with him on the couch. Sa'id said to Abdullah bin al-Zubayr: "Sit here." He said: "No, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) decreed that the two parties to a dispute should sit in front of the judge."
