Attab bin Amir (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates: I was with Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with them both) inside the Hijr (Hatim) in Makkah when he was asked about wine. He said: A man asked me, and I said: This is the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him); go and ask him, then come back and tell me. So he asked him (peace and blessings be upon him), then came back and told me that he had asked him, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) had said: "It is the greatest of the major sins and the root of indecencies. Whoever drinks wine abandons the prayer and (even) commits fornication with his mother, his paternal aunt and his maternal aunt."
