حَدَّثَنَا هَارُونُ، قَالَ: ثنا أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، قَالَ: ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «لَا تَنْكِحُوا النِّسَاءَ بِحَسَبِهِنَّ، فَعَسَى حَسَبُهُنَّ أنْ يُؤْذِيَهُنَّ، وَلَا تَنْكِحُوهُنَّ لِأَمْوَالِهِنَّ، فَعَسَى أَمْوَالُهُنَّ أَنْ يُطْغِيَهُنَّ، فَلَأَمَةٌ سَوْدَاءُ خَرْمَاءُ ذَاتُ دَيْنٍ أَفْضَلُ»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do not marry women for their lineage, for perhaps their lineage may harm them; nor marry them for their wealth, for perhaps their wealth may lead them into transgression. Rather, even a black, slit-nosed slave woman who is religious is better."
