It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr bin al-As (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "How will you be in a time, or soon a time will come, in which people will be thoroughly sifted, and the worthless dregs of people will remain, whose covenants and trusts will have become loose, and they will fall into disagreement and become like this," and he interlaced his fingers. The people said: O Messenger of Allah, how will we be at that time? He said: "You will take what you know (to be good), leave what you consider evil, turn your attention to your own particular affair, and leave the affair of your common people."
