Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) went to visit Abu Salamah (may Allah be pleased with him) while he was ill, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) heard the words of Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) as she was weeping. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) held back from going in when he (peace and blessings be upon him) heard her weeping over him (Abu Salamah) with (a verse of) the Book of Allah, saying: "And the stupor of death comes in truth; that is what you used to flee from" [Surah Qaf: 19]. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) went in, greeted with salam, and said: "O Umm Salamah! May Allah grant you (something) in its place." When he (peace and blessings be upon him) came out, and Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) was with him (peace and blessings be upon him), he said to him (peace and blessings be upon him): O Messenger of Allah! I saw that you disliked going in because they were wailing. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I do not enter a house in which there is wailing, nor a black dog."
