Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 13462 — We were sitting with the Prophet ﷺ

حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ، ثنا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ، ثنا شَرِيكٌ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ سَلَمَةَ بْنَ كُهَيْلٍ يُحَدِّثُ: عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، قَالَ: كُنَّا جُلُوسًا عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَالشَّمْسُ عَلَى قُعَيْقِعَانَ بَعْدَ الْعَصْرِ فَقَالَ: «مَا أَعْمَارُكُمْ فِي أَعْمَارِ مَنْ مَضَى إِلَّا كَمَا بَقِيَ مِنْ هَذَا النَّهَارِ فِيمَا مَضَى مِنْهُ»
Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: We were sitting with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and the sun was over Qu'ayqi'an after Asr, when he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Your lifespans compared to the lifespans of those who have passed are only like what remains of this day compared to what has passed of it."
