Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 13296 — when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ applied

حَدَّثَنَا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ، ثنا عَتِيقُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ الزُّبَيْرِيُّ، ثنا عُقْبَةُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «كَانَ إِذَا اكْتَحَلَ جَعَلَ فِي الْعَيْنِ الْيُمْنَى ثَلَاثًا، وَفِي الْيُسْرَى مِزْوَدَيْنِ فَجَعَلَهَا وِتْرًا»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) applied kohl, he would apply it three times in the right eye and twice in the left eye, thereby making it an odd number.
