حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ حَنْبَلٍ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الطُّفَاوِيُّ، ثنا أَيُّوبُ بْنُ أَبِي تَمِيمَةَ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، قَالَ: دَخَلْتُ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَعَلَيَّ إِزَارٌ تَتَقَعْقَعُ فَقَالَ: «مَنْ هَذَا؟» ، فَقُلْتُ: عَبْدُ اللهِ فَقَالَ: «إِنْ كُنْتَ عَبْدَ اللهِ فَارْفَعْ إِزَارَكَ» فَرَفَعْتُ إِزَارِي إِلَى نِصْفِ السَّاقَيْنِ «فَلَمْ يَزَلْ إِزْرَتَهَ حَتَّى مَاتَ»
Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) says: I went in to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) while my lower garment was rustling, so he (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "Who is this?" I said: Abdullah. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If you are Abdullah (a servant of Allah), then raise your lower garment." So I raised my lower garment to the middle of the shins, and he (Ibn Umar, may Allah be pleased with them both) kept wearing his lower garment that way until his death.
