حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ التُّسْتَرِيُّ، ثنا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ بْنُ فُلَيْحٍ الْمَكِّيُّ، ثنا الْمُعَافَى بْنُ عِمْرَانَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَامِرٍ الْأَسْلَمِيِّ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْمُنْكَدِرِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ، قَالَ: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: إِذَا اسْتَفْتَحَ الصَّلَاةَ قَالَ: «وَجَّهْتُ وَجْهِيَ لِلَّذِي فَطَرَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ حَنِيفًا مُسْلِمًا، وَمَا أَنَا مِنَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ، سُبْحَانَكَ اللهُمَّ بِحَمْدِكَ، وَتَبَارَكَ اسْمُكَ، وَتَعَالَى جَدُّكَ، وَلَا إِلَهَ غَيْرُكَ، إِنَّ صَلَاتِي وَنُسُكِي، وَمَحْيَايَ وَمَمَاتِي لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ، وَبِذَلِكَ أُمِرْتُ، وَأَنَا مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ»
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) says: When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) began the prayer, he would say: "I have turned my face, as one inclining to the truth and submitting, towards the One who created the heavens and the earth, and I am not of the polytheists. Glory be to You, O Allah, and with Your praise; blessed is Your name, exalted is Your majesty, and there is no god other than You. Indeed my prayer, my sacrifice, my living and my dying are for Allah alone, the Lord of all the worlds; He has no partner, with this I have been commanded, and I am of the Muslims."
