حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَبَّاسِ الْمُؤَدِّبُ، ثنا عَفَّانُ، ثنا أَبَانُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ، ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ، عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ، عَنْ ثَابِتِ بْنِ الضَّحَّاكِ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: «مَنْ حَلَفَ عَلَى مِلَّةٍ غَيْرِ الْإِسْلَامِ كَاذِبًا فَهُوَ كَمَا قَالَ، وَلَيْسَ عَلَى الرَّجُلِ نَذْرٌ فِيمَا لَا يَمْلِكُ، وَمَنْ قَتَلَ نَفْسَهُ بِشَيْءٍ فِي الدُّنْيَا، عُذِّبَ بِهِ فِي الْآخِرَةِ»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Thabit bin al-Dahhak al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever swears falsely by a religion other than Islam, he is as he said; and there is no vow upon a man in what he does not own; and whoever kills himself with something in this world will be punished with it in the Hereafter."
