حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ نَصْرٍ الصَّائِغُ، ثنا أَبُو مُصْعَبٍ، ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ الْجُمَحِيُّ، ثنا زَيْدُ بْنُ أَسْلَمَ، قَالَ: مَرَّ ابْنُ عُمَرَ بِرَاعِي غَنَمٍ فَقَالَ: يَا رَاعِيَ الْغَنَمِ هَلْ مِنْ جَزْرَةٍ قَالَ الرَّاعِي: لَيْسَ هَا هُنَا رَبُّهَا، فَقَالَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ: تَقُولُ: «أَكَلَهَا الذِّئْبُ» فَرَفَعُ الرَّاعِي رَأْسَهُ إِلَى السَّمَاءِ، ثُمَّ قَالَ: فَأَيْنَ اللهُ؟ فَاشْتَرَى ابْنُ عُمَرَ الرَّاعِي وَاشْتَرَى الْغَنَمَ فَأَعْتَقَهُ، وَأَعْطَاهُ الْغَنَمَ "
Zayd bin Aslam said: Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) passed by a shepherd of goats and said: O shepherd, is there an animal (for sale)? The shepherd said: Its owner is not here. Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: You can say that the wolf ate it. The shepherd raised his head towards the sky, then said: Then where is Allah? So Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) bought that shepherd and also bought the goats, then set him free and gave him the goats.
