Sayyidah Umm al-Fadl and Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrate from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) that one night in Makkah he (peace and blessings be upon him) stood up and said three times: "O Allah, have I conveyed?" At this, Sayyiduna Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) stood up, and he was a man who sighed much, and he said: O Allah, yes; you strove eagerly, you exerted yourself and you gave sincere counsel. O Allah, yes; you strove eagerly, you exerted yourself and you gave sincere counsel. Then, when morning came, he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Faith will surely prevail until it drives disbelief back to its homelands, and the seas will be crossed for the sake of Islam. And a time will surely come upon people in which they will learn the Qur'an, then teach it and recite it, then they will say: 'We have read and we have taught, so who is there that is better than us?' Is there any good in those people?" The people said: No, O Messenger of Allah. And who are those people? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "They will be from among you, and they are the fuel of the Fire."
