حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، ثنا مُسَدَّدٌ، ثنا عَبَّادُ بْنُ عَبَّادٍ، ثنا أَبُو جَمْرَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمَا، قَالَ: قَدِمَ وَفْدُ عَبْدِ الْقَيْسِ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , فَقَالُوا: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّا هَذَا الْحَيُّ مِنْ رَبِيعَةَ قَدْ حَالَ بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَكَ كُفَّارُ مُضَرَ، وَلَا نَخْلُصُ إِلَيْكَ إِلَّا فِي شَهْرٍ حَرَامٍ , فَمُرْنَا بِأَمْرٍ نَعْمَلُ بِهِ، وَنَدْعُو إِلَيْهِ مَنْ وَرَاءَنَا. قَالَ: " آمُرُكُمْ بِأَرْبَعٍ، وَأَنْهَاكُمْ عَنْ أَرْبَعٍ: الْإِيمَانِ وَفَسَّرَهَا لَهُمْ شَهَادَةِ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ، وَأَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا رَسُولُ اللهِ، وَإِقَامِ الصَّلَاةِ، وَإِيتَاءِ الزَّكَاةِ، وَأَنْ تُؤَدُّوا خُمُسَ مَا غَنِمْتُمْ، وَأَنْهَاكُمْ، عَنِ الدُّبَّاءِ، وَالْحَنْتَمِ، وَالنَّقِيرِ، وَالْمُقَيَّرِ "
Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) relates: The delegation of Abd al-Qays came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah, we are this tribe of Rabi'ah; the disbelievers of Mudar have come between us and you, and we can reach you only in a sacred month, so give us a command that we may act upon and to which we may invite those behind us. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I command you with four things and forbid you four: faith," and he (peace and blessings be upon him) explained it to them, saying, "bearing witness that there is no god except Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, establishing prayer, paying zakah, and that you pay the khumus (one-fifth) of the spoils of war. And I forbid you the dubba', the hantam, the naqir and the muqayyar."
