حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ، ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الشَّافِعِيُّ، ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ رَجَاءٍ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ زَيْدٍ، عَنْ يُوسُفَ بْنِ مِهْرَانَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمَا قَالَ: قَرَأْنَاهَا عَلَى عَهْدِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ سَنَتَيْنِ {وَالَّذِينَ لَا يَدْعُونَ مَعَ اللهِ إِلَهًا آخَرَ وَلَا يَقْتُلُونَ النَّفْسَ الَّتِي حَرَّمَ اللهُ إِلَّا بِالْحَقِّ وَلَا يَزْنُونَ} [الفرقان: ٦٨] الْآيَةَ، ثُمَّ نَزَلَتْ: {إِلَّا مَنْ تَابَ} [مريم: ٦٠] ، «فَمَا رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَرِحَ فَرَحًا قَطُّ أَشَدَّ مِنْهُ بِهَا» ، وَبِـ {إِنَّا فَتَحْنَا لَكَ فَتْحًا مُبِينًا} [الفتح: ١]
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) relates: In the time of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) we recited this verse in this way for two years: "And those who do not call upon another god along with Allah, nor kill a soul which Allah has made sacred except by right, nor commit adultery" [Surah al-Furqan: 68] to the end of the verse. Then this was revealed: "Except whoever repents" [Surah Maryam: 60]. I never saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) more joyful at anything than at that, and likewise at this verse: "Indeed, We have granted you a clear victory" [Surah al-Fath: 1].
