أَنْشَدَنَا أَبُو خَلِيفَةَ قَالَ: أنْشَدَنَا أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ التُّوزِيُّ، قَالَ أَبُو خَلِيفَةَ: وَسَأَلْتُ عَنْهُ الرِّيَاشِيَّ فَقَالَ: هُوَ لِحَسَّانِ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ: «

وَتَرَكْتُمُ غَزْوَ الدُّرُوبِ وَجِئْتُمُ ... لِقِتَالِ قَوْمٍ عِنْدَ قَبْرِ مُحَمَّدِ
فَلَيْسَ هَدْيُ الصَّالِحِينَ هُدِيتُمُ ... وَلَيْسَ فِعْلَ الْعَابِدِ الْمُتَهَجِّدِ»

فَلَيْسَ هَدْيُ الصَّالِحِينَ هُدِيتُمُ ... وَلَيْسَ فِعْلَ الْعَابِدِ الْمُتَهَجِّدِ»
Abu Khalifah recited to us; he said: Abu Muhammad al-Tawwazi recited to us. Abu Khalifah said: I asked al-Riyashi about it, and he said: It is a poem of Sayyiduna Hassan bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him):
"You abandoned fighting on the frontiers and came to fight a people beside the grave of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him).
This is not the way of the righteous by which you were guided, nor is it the deed of the devout worshipper who keeps the night vigil."
