Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 12353 — a man came to Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو يَزِيدَ الْقَرَاطِيسِيُّ، ثنا أَسَدُ بْنُ مُوسَى، ثنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ، عَنْ عُتْبَةَ بْنِ حُمَيْدٍ الضَّبِّيِّ، عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ الثَّقَفِيِّ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ قَالَ: جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، فَقَالَ: أَوْصِنِي، فَقَالَ: «أُوصِيكَ بِتَقْوَى اللهِ، وَإِيَّاكَ وَذِكْرَ أَصْحَابِ مُحَمَّدٍ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَإِنَّكَ لَا تَدْرِي مَا سَبَقَ لَهُمْ»
Sa'id bin Jubayr (may Allah have mercy on him) narrated that a man came to Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) and said: "Advise me." He said: "I advise you to fear Allah, and to beware of speaking ill of the Companions of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), for you do not know what lofty rank has already been decreed for them."
