Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 12318 — a black slave came to the Prophet ﷺ

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، ثنا عَبَّادُ بْنُ الْعَوَّامِّ، ثنا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنِ الْحَكَمِ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ أَنَّ عَبْدًا أَسْوَدَ جَاءَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , فَقَالَ: يَمُرُّ بِيَ ابْنُ السَّبِيلِ، وَأَنَا فِي مَاشِيَةٍ لِسَيِّدِي فَأَسْقِي مِنْ أَلْبَانِهَا بِغَيْرِ إِذْنِهِمْ؟ قَالَ: «لَا» قَالَ: فَإِنِّي أَرْمِي فَأُصْمِي وَأُنْمِي قَالَ: «كُلْ مَا أَصْمَيْتَ وَدَعْ مَا أَنْمَيْتَ»
Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrated that a black slave came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "I am with my master's livestock and a traveller passes by me. May I give him milk to drink without their permission?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "No." He said: "And if I shoot at game and it dies on the spot, or it runs off and dies some time later?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Eat what dies on the spot, and leave what dies some time later."
