حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الرَّقَاشِيُّ، ثنا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ السَّائِبِ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ: مَسَحَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى الْخُفَّيْنِ ثُمَّ قَالَ: «سَلُوا هَؤُلَاءِ الَّذِينَ يَزْعُمُونَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَسَحَ عَلَى الْخُفَّيْنِ بَعْدَ سُورَةِ الْمَائِدَةِ، وَاللهِ مَا مَسَحَ بَعْدَ الْمَائِدَةِ، وَلَأَنْ أَمْسَحَ عَلَى ظَهْرِ عِيرٍ بَغْلاءَ أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ مِنْ أَنْ أَمْسَحَ عَلَيْهِمَا»
Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) wiped over the leather socks; then (Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them both) said: "Ask those who claim that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) wiped over the leather socks after Surah al-Ma'idah. By Allah, he (peace and blessings be upon him) did not wipe after al-Ma'idah; and wiping over the back of a mule or donkey is dearer to me than wiping over these two socks."
