حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَامِرٍ النَّحْوِيُّ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الصُّورِيُّ، ثنا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الدِّمَشْقِيُّ، ثنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي ثَعْلَبَةُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ، عَنْ أَبِي كَعْبٍ، مَوْلَى ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: أَنَّ جِبْرِيلَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ أَبْطَأَ عَلَيْهِ فَذَكَرَ ذَلِكَ لَهُ فَقَالَ: «كَيْفَ وَأَنْتُمْ لَا تَسْتَنُّونَ، وَلَا تُقَلِّمُونَ أَظْفَارَكُمْ، وَلَا تَقُصُّونَ شَوَارِبَكُمْ، وَلَا تُنَقُّونَ رَوَاجِبَكُمْ»
Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that Sayyiduna Jibril (peace be upon him) was late in coming to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned this to him. He said: "How could it be otherwise (that I am not late), when you do not use the siwak, do not clip your nails, do not trim your moustaches, and do not clean your finger joints?"
