حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ سَلْمٍ الرَّازِيُّ، ثنا سَهْلُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ، ثنا جَنَازَةُ بْنُ سَلْمٍ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ، عَنْ كُرَيْبٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ: «أُوحِيَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ ابْنُ أَرْبَعِينَ سَنَةً، فَلَبِثَ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ بِمَكَّةَ ثَلَاثَ عَشْرَةَ سَنَةً، ثُمَّ هَاجَرَ إِلَى الْمَدِينَةِ فَكَانَ بِهَا عَشْرًا، فَتُوُفِّيَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ ابْنُ ثَلَاثٍ وَسِتِّينَ سَنَةً»
Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that revelation came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) when he ((peace and blessings be upon him)) was forty years old. After that he ((peace and blessings be upon him)) stayed in Makkah for thirteen years, then he emigrated to Madinah and stayed there for ten years. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) passed away when he ((peace and blessings be upon him)) was sixty-three years old.
