حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ التُّسْتَرِيُّ، ثنا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ الْوَاسِطِيُّ، ثنا جَرِيرُ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ، حَدَّثَنَا مَجَاعَةُ بْنُ مِحْصَنٍ الْعَبْدِيُّ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ، عَنْ بِشْرِ بْنِ عِصْمَةَ، صَاحِبِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «الْأَزْدُ مِنِّي، وَأَنَا مِنْهُمْ، أَغْضَبُ لَهُمْ إِذَا غَضِبُوا، وَأَرْضَى لَهُمْ إِذَا رَضُوا» فَقَالَ مُعَاوِيَةُ رَحِمَهُ اللهُ: إِنَّمَا قَالَ ذَلِكَ لِقُرَيْشٍ، فَقَالَ بِشْرٌ: «أَفَأَكْذِبُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ؟ لَوْ كَذَبْتُ عَلَيْهِ جَعَلْتُهَا لِقَوْمِي»
Sayyiduna Bishr bin Ismah (may Allah be pleased with him), a Companion of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Al-Azd are from me and I am from them. When they are angered, I am angered for them, and when they are pleased, I am pleased for them." Then Mu'awiyah (may Allah have mercy on him) said: He (peace and blessings be upon him) said that about Quraysh. Bishr (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Would I lie about the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)? Had I lied about him, I would have attributed it to my own people."
