Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 12055 — When Hamzah bin Abd al-Muttalib was

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) says: When Hamzah bin Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with him) was martyred, he had a striped woollen cloak on him. It was Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) who lowered him into his grave. When he covered his head with that cloth, his feet would be exposed, and when he covered his feet, his head would come out. So he asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) about that, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered him to cover his head, and to take some branches of this 'iljan (a wild-growing plant) and place them over his feet.
