Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 12030 — on the day of the Trench, the Prophet ﷺ

حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ، ثنا ابْنُ الْأَصْبَهَانِيِّ، ثنا حَفْصُ بْنُ غِيَاثٍ، عَنِ الْحَجَّاجِ، عَنِ الْحَكَمِ، عَنْ مِقْسَمٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَرَّ بِامْرَأَةٍ يَوْمَ الْخَنْدَقِ مَقْتُولَةً فَقَالَ: «مَنْ قَتَلَ هَذِهِ؟» فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ: أَنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، قَالَ: «وَلِمَ؟» قَالَ: نازَعَتْني سَيْفِي، فَسَكَتَ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that on the day of the Trench, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by a woman who had been killed and said: "Who killed her?" A man said: I did, O Messenger of Allah. He (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "Why?" He said: She grappled with me over my sword. So he (peace and blessings be upon him) fell silent.
