Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 12023 — concerning the verse: And they ask you
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، ثنا ابْنُ أَبِي لَيْلَى، عَنِ الْحَكَمِ، عَنْ مِقْسَمٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، فِي قَوْلِهِ {وَيَسْأَلُونَكَ مَاذَا يُنْفِقُونَ قُلِ الْعَفْوَ} [البقرة: ٢١٩] قَالَ: «الْفَضْلُ عَلَى الْعِيَالِ»
Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said concerning the verse: "And they ask you what they should spend. Say: What is beyond your needs" [Surah al-Baqarah: 219]: "That is, what is beyond the needs of one's family."
