It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: O Messenger of Allah! On the day of Uhud, when I was kept from martyrdom and those who were martyred were martyred, you said to me: "Martyrdom is ahead of you." He said: "How will your patience be when this - he pointed to his beard - is dyed from this - he pointed to his head?" Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Since you have made clear what you made clear, this is not a place for patience; rather, it is a place for glad tidings and honour.
