Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 11983 — When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ الدِّمَشْقِيُّ، وَأَبُو عَامِرٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ النَّحْوِيُّ الصُّورِيُّ، وَالْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ التُّسْتَرِيُّ، قَالُوا: ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ ذَكْوَانَ الدِّمَشْقِيُّ، ثنا عِرَاكُ بْنُ خَالِدِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ بْنِ صُبَيْحٍ الْمُرِّيُّ، عَنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ عَطَاءٍ الْخُرَاسَانِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ لَمَّا عُزِّيَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِابْنَتِهِ رُقَيَّةَ امْرَأَةِ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ عَفَّانَ قَالَ: «الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ دَفْنُ الْبَنَاتِ مِنَ الْمُكْرَماتِ»
Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was offered condolences on the death of his daughter Ruqayyah (may Allah be pleased with her), the wife of Uthman bin Affan (may Allah be pleased with him), he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Praise be to Allah; burying daughters is among the honourable deeds."
