حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُسْلِمٍ الْكَشِّيُّ، ثنا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ نُصَيْرٍ، ثنا هِشَامُ الدَّسْتُوَائِيُّ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: «لَا تَفْتَخِرُوا بِآبَائِكُمِ الَّذِينَ مُوِّتُوا فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ، فَوَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ لَمَا يُدَحْرِجُ الْجُعَلُ بِأَنْفِهِ خَيْرٌ مِنْ آبَائِكُمِ الَّذِينَ مُوِّتُوا فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do not boast about your forefathers who died in the Jahiliyyah. By the One in whose hand is my soul! What the dung beetle rolls with its nose is better than your forefathers who died in the Jahiliyyah."
