Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 11717 — There were two co-wives, and a quarrel

Ikrimah (may Allah have mercy on him) said: There were two co-wives, and a quarrel took place between them. One of them struck the other with a stone, causing her to miscarry a dead boy, and the woman (also) died. So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) decreed the blood money upon the (killer's) family. Thereupon the paternal uncle of (the slain woman) said: O Messenger of Allah! She has miscarried a boy whose hair had already grown. The father of the killer said: He is lying. By Allah! It neither cried out at birth, nor understood anything, nor drank, nor ate; so the blood of such a child goes unavenged. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Is this the rhymed speech of the Ignorance and its soothsaying? I hold that a ghurrah (i.e. compensation) is due for the child." Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: The name of one of them was Mulaykah and the other was Umm Utayf.
