Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: A goat belonging to Umm al-Aswad (may Allah be pleased with her) died, and she informed the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) recited (this verse): "Say: I do not find in what has been revealed to me anything forbidden to one who would eat it, except carrion or blood poured forth" to the end of the verse, and he said: "You are not eating it." So she sent word and had it skinned. Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: They made a water-skin from its hide, and I saw it a year later. Abu al-Ahwas said: (In the narration the name) Umm al-Aswad has come, whereas the correct name is Sawdah.
