حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدَانُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ، ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ الْأَهْوَازِيُّ، ثنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ أَبَانَ، ثنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ أَبِي خَالِدٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْأَصْبَهَانِيِّ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ صَلَّى بِهِمُ الْعَصْرَ ثَلَاثًا وَنَسِي وَاحِدَةً، فَانْصَرَفَ فَدَخَلَ عَلَى بَعْضِ نِسَائِهِ، فَدَخَلَ عَلَيْهِ رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِهِ يُسَمَّى ذُو الشِّمَالَيْنِ فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَنَقُصَتِ الصَّلَاةُ؟ قَالَ: «وَمَا ذَاكَ؟» قَالَ: صَلَّيْتَ ثَلَاثًا، فَأَخَذَ بِيَدِهِ فَخَرَجَ إِلَى قَوْمٍ كَانُوا مَعَهُ فَقَالَ: «أَصَدَقَ ذُو الْيَدَيْنِ؟» قَالُوا: وَمَا ذَاكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ؟، قَالَ: «يَزْعُمُ أَنِّي صَلَّيْتُ ثَلَاثًا» قَالُوا: صَدَقَ، فَظَنَنَّا أَنَّكَ أُمِرْتَ فِي ذَلِكَ بِأَمْرٍ «فَصَلَّى بِهِمْ رَكْعَةً، ثُمَّ سَجَدَ سَجْدَتَيِ السَّهْوِ»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) led them in the Asr prayer with three rak'ahs and forgot one rak'ah. Then he left and went to (the house of) one of his wives. One of his Companions, who was called Dhu al-Shimalayn, came to him and said: O Messenger of Allah, has the prayer been shortened? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "What is that?" He said: You prayed three rak'ahs. So he (peace and blessings be upon him) took him by the hand and went out to the people who had been with him, and said: "Has Dhu al-Yadayn spoken the truth?" They said: O Messenger of Allah, what is that? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "He claims that I prayed three rak'ahs." They said: He has spoken the truth; we thought that you had been given some new command about it. So he (peace and blessings be upon him) led them in one rak'ah, then performed the two prostrations of forgetfulness (sajdat al-sahw).
