حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ غَيْلَانَ، ثنا أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ، ثنا عَبْدُ الْحَمِيدِ الْحِمَّانِيُّ، عَنِ النَّضْرِ أَبِي عُمَرَ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُحْرَسُ، فَكَانَ يُرْسِلُ مَعَهُ عَمُّهُ أَبُو طَالِبٍ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ رِجَالًا مِنْ بَنِي هَاشِمٍ يَحْرُسُونَهُ، حَتَّى نَزَلَتْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةُ {يَا أَيُّهَا الرَّسُولُ بَلِّغْ مَا أُنْزِلَ إِلَيْكَ مِنْ رَبِّكَ} [المائدة: ٦٧] إِلَى قَوْلِهِ {وَاللهُ يَعْصِمُكَ مِنَ النَّاسِ} [المائدة: ٦٧] ، فَأَرَادَ عَمُّهُ أَنْ يُرْسِلَ مَعَهُ مَنْ يَحْرُسُهُ فَقَالَ: «يَا عَمِّ إِنَّ اللهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ قَدْ عَصَمَنِي مِنَ الْجِنِّ وَالْإِنْسِ»
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to be guarded, so his uncle Abu Talib would send some men of Banu Hashim with him every day to guard him, until this verse was revealed: "O Messenger, convey what has been sent down to you from your Lord" up to "and Allah will protect you from the people" [Surah al-Ma'idah: 67]. Then his uncle wanted to send someone with him to guard him, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O uncle, Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, has protected me from the jinn and mankind."
