Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 11352 — This verse abrogated (the obligation of)

Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: This verse abrogated (the obligation of) a woman spending her waiting period (iddah) among her family; now she may spend her waiting period wherever she wishes - (that is,) the words of Allah, the Mighty and Majestic: "without being turned out" [Surah al-Baqarah: 240]. Ata (may Allah have mercy on him) said: If she wishes, she may spend her waiting period among her husband's family, and if she wishes, she may leave, on account of the words of Allah, the Mighty and Majestic: "But if they leave of their own accord, there is no sin upon you for what they do with themselves."
