Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 11343 — from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas

Ata (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both): One night the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) delayed the prayer so much that a large part of the night passed. Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) came out and called: "The prayer, O Messenger of Allah! The women and children have fallen asleep." Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) came out, with water dripping from his (peace and blessings be upon him) side, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) was wiping the water from his side and saying: "This is the proper time, were it not that I fear hardship for my Ummah."
