Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 11342 — One night the Messenger of Allah ﷺ

حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الدَّبَرِيُّ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ، يَقُولُ: أَعْتَمَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِالْعَشَاءِ لَيْلَةً، ثُمَّ خَرَجَ وَرَأْسُهُ يَقْطُرُ مَاءً فَقَالَ: «لَوْلَا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لَأَحْبَبْتُ أَنْ تُصَلَّى هَذِهِ الصَّلَاةُ لِهَذَا الْوَقْتِ»
Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: One night the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) delayed the Isha prayer, then came out with water dripping from his (peace and blessings be upon him) head, and said: "Were it not that I fear hardship for my Ummah, I would have liked this prayer to be prayed at this time."
