Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 11317 — Sayyiduna Abbas came to the Prophet ﷺ

Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: Sayyiduna Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) at a time when he did not usually come, and it was said: "O Messenger of Allah, your uncle is at the door." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Give him permission; he has come for an important matter." When he came in, he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O uncle, what has brought you at this hour, when this is not your usual time?" He said: "O nephew, I remembered the Jahiliyyah and its ignorance, and the world, for all its vastness, became narrow for me. I thought: who will relieve me of this distress? Then I became certain that no one can relieve me of this distress except Allah, and then you." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Praise be to Allah, who placed this in your heart. I wish that Abu Talib had also taken his share, but Allah does what He wills." Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Shall I not give you a gift?" He said: "Yes." He said: "Shall I give to you?" He said: "Yes." He said: "Shall I not give you a gift?" He said: "Yes." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When there comes an hour in which prayer may be offered - neither after Asr nor after sunrise, but between the two - then perform ablution thoroughly, then stand before Allah and recite Surah al-Fatihah and another surah; if you wish, take one of the opening surahs of the Mufassal. When you have finished the surah, say fifteen times: 'Subhan Allah wal-hamdu lillah wa la ilaha illallah wallahu akbar' (Glory be to Allah, praise be to Allah, there is no god but Allah, and Allah is the Greatest). Then, when you bow, say it ten times, and when you raise your head, say it ten times."
