Ata (may Allah have mercy on him) was asked about istilam (touching the Black Stone), and he related that Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: "You have only been commanded to perform tawaf; if it is easy for you, then touch (the Black Stone)."
(The narrator Mu'awiyah bin Abd al-Karim) was nicknamed "al-Dall" (the one who went astray) because he became lost on the road to Makkah and died missing. Imam al-Tabarani (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Ma'mar bin Rashid and Salm bin Abi al-Dhayyal also went missing, and no trace of them was found.
