Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The habitual drinker of wine, the one who is disobedient to his parents, and the one who reminds others of his favours will not enter Paradise." Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: This weighed heavily upon me, because believers too fall into sins, until I found it in the Book of Allah. Concerning disobedience to parents: "Would you then, if you were given authority, cause corruption in the land and sever your ties of kinship?" [Muhammad: 22], the whole verse. Concerning reminding of favours: "Do not invalidate your charities by reminders of generosity and by injury" [Al-Baqarah: 264], the whole verse. And concerning wine: "Wine, gambling, idols and divining arrows are all filth" [Al-Ma'idah: 90] up to "so avoid it" [Al-Ma'idah: 90].
