Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 11103 — A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said: O

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ قُتَيْبَةَ الْعَسْقَلَانِيُّ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبي السَّرِيِّ، ثنا حَفْصُ بْنُ مَيْسَرَةَ، ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ أَبُو سُلَيْمَانَ الْمَدِينِيُّ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي نَجِيحٍ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِي اللهُ عَنْهُمَا، قَالَ: جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، إِنِّي أُرِيدُ الْغَزْوَ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ قَالَ: «عَلَيْكَ بِالشَّامِ فَإِنَّ اللهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ قَدْ تَكَفَّلَ لِي بِالشَّامِ وَأَهْلِهِ، وَالْزَمْ مِنَ الشَّامِ عَسْقَلَانَ، فَإِنَّهَا إِذَا دَارَتِ الرَّحَا فِي أُمَّتِي كَانَ أَهْلُهَا فِي خَيْرٍ وَعَافِيَةٍ»
Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: A man came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah, I wish to go on campaign in the path of Allah. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Hold fast to al-Sham, for Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, has guaranteed al-Sham and its people for me. And of al-Sham, hold fast to Asqalan, for when the millstone (of tribulation) turns in my Ummah, its people will be in goodness and well-being."
