Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrated: When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) established brotherhood among his Companions, between the Muhajirun and the Ansar, and did not make Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) the brother of anyone, Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) went out angry until he reached a water channel in the ground, and lay down resting his head on his arm, and the wind blew dust onto him. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) searched for him until he found him, then nudged him lightly with his (peace and blessings be upon him) foot and said: "Get up! No name suits you except 'Abu Turab' (the man of dust). Were you angry with me because I established brotherhood between the Muhajirun and the Ansar and did not make you the brother of any of them? Are you not pleased to be to me in the position that Harun was to Musa (peace be upon them both), except that there is no prophet after me? Behold! Whoever loves you will be surrounded by security and faith, and whoever hates you, Allah will cause him to die the death of Jahiliyyah, and he will be held to account for his deeds in Islam."
