حَدَّثَنَا خَلَفُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو الْعُكْبَرِيُّ، ثنا الْحُمَيْدِيُّ، ثنا سَلَمَةُ بْنُ سَيْسَنَ الْخَيَّاطُ الْمَكِّيُّ، حَدَّثَنِي بِشْرُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ، وَكَانَ شَيْخًا قَدِيمًا قَالَ: كُنَّا مَعَ طَاوُسٍ عِنْدَ الْمَقَامِ فَسَمِعْنَا ضَوْضَأَةً فَقَالَ: مَا هَذَا؟ فَقِيلَ: قَوْمٌ أَخَذَهُمْ ابْنُ هِشَامٍ فِي سَبَبٍ فَطَوَّقَهُمْ فَسَمِعْتُ طَاوُسًا يُحَدِّثُ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ: أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: «مَا مِنْ أَحَدٍ يُحْدِثُ فِي هَذِهِ الْأُمَّةِ حَدَثًا لَمْ يَكُنْ فَيَمُوتُ حَتَّى يُصِيبَهُ ذَلِكَ» . فَأَنَا رَأَيْتُ ابْنَ هِشَامٍ حِينَ عُزِلَ، وَأَتَى عُمَّالُ الْوَلِيدِ فَطَوَّقُوهُ
Bishr bin Ubayd (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates: We were with Tawus (may Allah have mercy on him) near the Maqam of Ibrahim when we heard a commotion. Tawus asked: What is this? It was said: Ibn Hisham has seized some people over some matter and put iron collars on them. Then I heard Tawus (may Allah have mercy on him) narrating from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "No one introduces into this Ummah a new thing that did not exist before, except that he will not die until he suffers its consequence."
(The narrator said:) Then I myself saw Ibn Hisham when he was dismissed and the officials of al-Walid came and put an iron collar on him.
