Sulayman bin Yasar (may Allah have mercy on him) narrated that he heard Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both), and that (Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both)) saw Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) performing ablution. Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: O my son Ibn Abbas, do you know why I am performing ablution? He said: I ate a few pieces of dried cheese (aqit), so I performed ablution. Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: I do not care for what reason you perform ablution; I bear witness that I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) eat meat from the shoulder, then stand up for the prayer, and he did not perform ablution. The narrator said: And Sulayman was present with the two of them at that time.
