Ali bin Abdullah bin Abbas from his father
Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 10625 — the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Hang
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ بَكَّارٍ الدِّمَشْقِيُّ، ثنا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ الْخَلَّالُ، ثنا سَلَّامُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ، ثنا عِيسَى وَعَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ ابْنَا عَلِيِّ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِمَا، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «عَلِّقُوا السَّوْطَ حَيْثُ يَرَاهُ أَهْلُ الْبَيْتِ؛ فَإِنَّهُ لَهُمْ أَدَبٌ»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Hang the whip where the members of the household can see it, for it is a means of discipline for them."
