حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ، ثنا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ، ثنا بَسَّامٌ الصَّيْرَفِيُّ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ يَامِينَ، أَخْبَرَنِي أَبِي أَنَّهُ لَمَّا مُرَّ بِجِنَازَةِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ بِالْحِيرَةِ، وَهُوَ وَادٍ لَهُمْ، جَاءَ طَائِرٌ أَبْيَضُ يُقَالُ لَهُ: الْغُرْنُوقُ، فَدَخَلَ فِي النَّعْشِ فَلَمْ يُرَ بَعْدُ "
(The narrator's father said:) When the funeral of Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) was carried past al-Hirah, which was one of their valleys, a white bird called the ghurnuq came and entered the bier, and it was not seen after that.
