حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُسْلِمٍ الْكَشِّيُّ، ثنا الْحَكَمُ بْنُ مَرْوَانَ الْكُوفِيُّ، ثنا أُمَيٌّ الصَّيْرَفِيُّ، ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ يَامِينَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ: " شَهِدْتُ جَنَازَةَ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، وَمَاتَ بِالطَّائِفِ، فَلَمَّا انْتُهِيَ بِهِ إِلَى الْحَفِيرَةِ جَاءَ طَائِرٌ أَبْيَضُ يُقَالُ لَهُ: الْغُرْنُوقُ، حَتَّى دَخَلَ فِي جَوْفِ النَّعْشِ وَلَمْ يُرَ "
(The narrator's father said:) I attended the funeral of Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both); he died in Ta'if. When he was brought to the grave, a white bird called the ghurnuq came and entered inside the bier, and then it was not seen again.
